The job purpose

The Senior DC SME Network Consultant / Architect is responsible for leading and implementing network data center (DC) projects. This role requires effective management of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities include guiding operations, overseeing remote team activities, and ensuring robust documentation practices.

Your main responsibilities

  • Implement network DC projects, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring on-time completion.
    Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Instruct and oversee operations carried out by remote teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation including as-built records and procedural guidelines.
  • Adhere to ITIL and other best practices for IT service management.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement.

Your skills

  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco data center network protocols such as VPC, FabricPath/OTV, HSRP/VRRP, and routing protocols like OSPF, BGP, EVPN. Experience with VPC and VXLAN designs is highly desired.
  • Hold certifications such as CCNP Data Center or CCIE.
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing NX-OS, including firmware upgrade/downgrade procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in complex data center environments, capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Understanding of network security concepts including network segmentation, micro-segmentation, Firewalls, DMZ, ACLs, etc.
  • Familiarity with DC services like Load-balancers, proxies, and VPN concentrators.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V, and experience integrating virtual networks with physical networks.
  • Experience with automation frameworks and scripting languages for network configuration and management (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform, RESTful APIs).
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools like Wireshark, NetFlow, SPAN, ELAM, and NMS platforms like Solarwinds NPM, NetMRI, Splunk.
